I am a Norwegian criminologist with an interest in how nature and nurture combined create human behaviour. This is a popular science blog where I comment on news, scientific findings and literature relevant to my subject – more often than not with an evolutionary informed approach to understanding the subject matter. The blog is meant for a Norwegian audience, and so it is mostly in the not so universal language of Norwegian.
Over the past four years, I have held numerous lectures on the benefits of an evolutionary informed approach to understanding the cross-cultural sex and age differences in anti-social and criminal behaviour. Please see the video below for a lecture I held in English on sex differences in intimate partner homicide for the Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis, University of Oslo (August 2009).
I am currently conducting an epidemiological study of filicide (including infanticide and neonaticide) in Norway for the years 1980 – 2009. It is the first study on filicide in this country since 1984. I am expecting to publish articles on my study in 2011.
